ARTIST’S STATEMENT
" Born in Jerome, Arizona in 1947, I am a third generation offspring of central Arizona
pioneer families. I was raised on a small ranch south of Cottonwood and spent much of my recreational time as a youngster in the Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona area. The first art instruction I received was at the Sedona Art Barn, at the age of thirteen. Working several winters for the National Park Service as a site interpreter at Montezuma Castle National Monument, and for over twenty seasons for the U.S. Forest Service, Coconino and Prescott National Forests, as a recreation foreman, wildland firefighter, prevention technician and fire lookout, my appreciation of the central Arizona region grew even stronger and I have happily made this area my permanent home.

I have painted and drawn, selling some art work, throughout my life, and began pursuing a full time art career in the late 1980’s.  My main focus of work is on the human figure in bronze sculpture with secondary interest in various painting media and other sculptural media including stoneware and alabaster.  I am primarily self taught but have studied under sculptors Bruno Lucchesi at Loveland Academy of Fine Arts and Eugenia Everett at Sedona Arts Center, as well as several prominent painters including Jay Datus and Al Nestler.  My art work is in collections nationally and internationally .”
